On the way to the Uffizi Gallery, most visitors pass through Florence’s Piazza della Signoria. There, they find one of the most spectacular collections of public sculpture in Italy. From Michelangelo to Donatello to Cellini, many of the most famous artists of the Renaissance have had works grace this space. This talk will consider the history of this open-air museum, considering the sculptures to be found there.
