If you're driving near Boynton Beach, Boca Raton or Lantana, check your route first. WPBF reports flooding from days of steady rain in Palm Beach, Martin, Okeechobee, St. Lucie and Indian River counties, and officials have closed roads or told drivers to avoid them.

  • Boynton Beach: severe flooding from Gateway and Seacrest to 1900 block N. Seacrest
  • Boca Raton: standing water on NW Second Ave. and parts of Dixie Highway
  • Lantana: isolated flooding; the town urges residents to stay off roads
  • Riviera Beach: Garden Rd. and Blue Heron Blvd. water main break, repairs due by 6 a.m. Tuesday

Farther north, Port St. Lucie police urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel, and St. Lucie County activated its Emergency Operations Center and issued a local state of emergency. Stranded but safe? Officials said you can call a towing company directly if you're not in immediate danger and don't need rescue.

State inspectors closed Taco Tuesdays Taqueria on North Congress Avenue over roaches

If you eat out around Delray Beach, here's one to know. Inspectors closed Taco Tuesdays Taqueria, 600 N. Congress Ave., Suite 110, on Oct. 29. A complaint inspection found about seven live roaches under the triple sink, prep shelving and a chest freezer. Boca Post reports seven Palm Beach and Broward restaurants were closed the week of Oct. 26, and every closure traced back to pests. State records show all seven were cleared to reopen within two days.

Three of the seven closed restaurants had earlier citations

  • Cold food: shredded mozzarella at 64°F
  • Kitchen handwash sink: no hot water
  • Other closures: Boca Raton, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth Beach
  • Also closed: Belle Glade, Pembroke Pines, Oakland Park

An is not a disciplinary action. It's a temporary step inspectors take when conditions pose an elevated risk, and the business stays closed until they're corrected. The Boca Raton Tribune also posted the state's list of emergency closures for Palm Beach County restaurants.
