If you already have a homestead exemption, you don't need to reapply, but you still have to report changes that could affect your exemption. Palm Beach County Property Appraiser Dorothy Jacks said no one with homestead today needs to call or come in. Amendment 3 passed with about 62% of the vote.

The exemption for non-school taxes rises in 2027 and again in 2028, then adjusts for inflation. Don't expect savings yet: 2026 bills don't change, and the higher amounts first appear on August 2027 proposed tax notices. School taxes stay, Jacks said.
The non-school homestead exemption will rise to $250,000 by 2028
